ViaMap GeoSuite location platform
A scalable GIS platform built on open source software and open standards, for corporate spatial data.

Built on open source software and open standards, this GIS platform can serve as a scalable, central corporate location platform that meets all needs for loading, analysing and displaying spatial data.
ViaMap GeoSuite contains the following modules:
- a spatially enabled SQL database,
- a map server solution that provides standard map services and specialised web services (on request, for example geocoding, routing, geofencing, real time tracking and optimisation),
- an embeddable client side JavaScript API for building desktop or web user interfaces.
Interfaces
As a location platform it can serve applications through these interfaces:
- standard vector and raster tile map services: WMS, WFS, TMS,
- consuming and re-publishing standard map services, when spatial data has to be taken over from other systems,
- loading raster and vector data, with support for complex ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) tasks, even in corporate Big Data environments,
- SOAP and REST interfaces based on standard communication, for sending, analysing and receiving data,
- a reactive, responsive JavaScript user interface that can be embedded in other applications,
- a desktop workstation with direct data access for data loading and ad hoc analysis,
- further services that can be integrated into other systems, such as routing, geofencing, real time tracking and route optimisation.
Infrastructure requirements
- Operating environment: Linux server, Ubuntu or RedHat based.
- At least 4 cores, at least 8 GB RAM, gigabit ethernet.
- Storage depends on the data volume, at least 200 GB.
Scalability
- The system scales well both horizontally and vertically. There is no licence cost or limit attached to this. Licence changes only apply to added, extra services.
- The basic GeoSuite installation runs compactly on one server, and can be extended on request. The database can be separated and distributed across several servers with replication.
- It optionally supports micro service and containerised architecture, so more instances of the services can be started depending on load.
- The system supports continuous integration and automated deployment.
- It can optionally manage permissions on its own, or take them over through a standard protocol such as LDAP.
Typical contract content
For delivered systems the contract typically includes:
- ViaMap GeoSuite Base,
- additional, customised modules,
- installation, operation and user documentation,
- test system installation and provisioning automation,
- trial operation support and handover to operations.
